Anthrax, emesis, and spores...oh my! The CompMicroLab presents at the Umeå Bacillus Workshop ❄️
On February 29 and March 1, CompMicroLab members presented their research at Umeå’s Research Workshop on Bacillus in Clinical and Agricultural Environments. Sponsored by the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR), Umeå Biotech Incubator, and Umeå University, the workshop brought researchers and stakeholders from all over the world together to discuss all things Bacillus!
Notably, CompMicroLab PhD students Josefin Blom and Vignesh Ramnath presented their first-ever posters! 🥳 Specifically:
🌍 Vignesh presented BTyperDB, a community-curated database of Bacillus cereus group genomes for epidemiological surveillance.
⛏️ Josefin presented recent results from her massive Bacillus cereus group biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) genome mining expedition!
Overall, the workshop was a huge success, and we’re looking forward to all of the new (and ongoing!) collaborations that we’ve formed because of the meeting! 🤝
